Highway 49 Rock Thrower Sentenced to 10 Years

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — District Attorney W. Dewayne Richardson reports that the man responsible for terrorizing drivers on Highway 49 is going to jail. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation began looking into the shooting of an abandoned car on the side of the highway in May of last year. Not long after they found the car, a rash of incidents began where cars were being hit by rocks, pieces of concrete, watermelons, and even ketchup packet as they traveled between Greenwood and Tchula. The MBI and the Leflore County Sheriff’s Office eventually determined that all the incidents were related. A Leflore County grand jury last January indicted brothers Kavotreiuos and Lavotreious Gould, along with Jumeario Williams in connection with the incidents. Late last month Kavotreiuos Gould plead guilty to one case of malicious mischief and five separate cases of aggravated assault. Sentences for all six offenses will run concurrently and Gould will spend 10 years behind bars followed by another five years of supervision after release.
