High River Interfering with Greenville Manhole Repairs

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Repairs of a couple more sinking Greenville manholes are being delayed by Old Man River. The emergency repairs along Caldwell Drive are almost complete according to the contractor, Mitchell Contracting Inc. of Madisonville, Louisiana. However, work has slowed thanks to the Mississippi River in Greenville which crested a few feet above flood stage on Tuesday. Pumps have been unable to remove water fast enough from the manholes because of the high water from the river, so repair work has slowed considerably.
