Heating Bills To Rise For 260,000 Atmos Customers

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Heating bills will be going up for many Delta residents. Atmos, Mississippi’s largest gas utility was granted a rate increase Tuesday by the Mississippi Public Service Commission. Atmos says a typical residential customer should see their bills rise by about $2 a month. The increase is expected to help pay for Atmos to repair and replace aging pipes and infrastructure, with some of the new income earmarked for a program to expand natural gas to industries in rural areas. Atmos currently serves about 260,000 customers in Mississippi.
