Hattiesburg Man Indicted in Killing Of His Son

HATTIESBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Hattiesburg man is facing 2nd-degree murder charges in the death of his son. 46-year-old Joel “Chad” Graves has been held in jail since his arrest on August 29 in connection with the shooting of 20-year-old son, Joel Graves a few days earlier. Hattiesburg Police Department Detective Erik Herrin testified at Graves preliminary hearing that investigators found blood pooled beneath Scott Graves’ body, and police were able to determine he was lying on the floor when he was shot. A Forest County grand jury signed an indictment against Graves last month which was just recently unsealed in the case.
