Greenwood Police Holding Two in Thursday Shooting

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenwood Police say they have two people behind bars in connection with a couple of South Greenwood shootings last week, and they’re looking for more. 19-year old Denarrius Stigler was arrested last Thursday, the day of the shootings, and 17-year-old Quaterious Carr was taken into custody on Friday. Stigler is charged with three counts of attempted aggravated assault. Carr faces two counts of accessory after the fact. Both are being held in the Leflore County jail. Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore told the Greenwood Commonwealth newspaper that they are looking for other individuals and that additional arrests can be expected. So far this year seven people have been killed in episodes of gun violence in Greenwood and LeFlore county, some as young as 15 years of age.
