Greenwood Man Injured in Winona Restaurant Shooting

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Greenwood man who was reported injured in a shooting in a Winona restaurant over the weekend remains hospitalized. 40-year-old Taurice Johnson was shot four times while eating breakfast with his wife at the Waffle House. He was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he is being treated in intensive care for wounds to his side, leg, and back. Police say Johnson was the target of the 3:30 AM Sunday morning shooting but are still trying to determine a motive. 28-year-old Dekendric Adair of Winona was identified as a suspect after interviews with witnesses and was arrested early Monday morning and charged with aggravated assault. He is being held at the Carroll-Montgomery Regional Correctional Facility on $500,000 bond and will make a first appearance before a judge in Winona Municipal Court today.
