Greenwood Man Indicted & Jailed for 2017 Death

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenwood man who killed his mother’s boyfriend nearly two years ago has been arrested. 51-year-old Henry Dexter Greene is accused of putting a chokehold on 30-year-old Trevose Stansberry in the front lawn of a home on Madison Avenue in Greenwood in August of 2017. Greene told police he was defending his mother from being attacked by Stansberry, who he said was trying to retrieve a gun from his car. Police at the time did not find a weapon in Stansberry’s vehicle. Stansberry was unconscious on the lawn when police arrived and died two days later at a local hospital. A grand jury this week returned an indictment on manslaughter charges. Greene is being held at the Leflore County jail.
