Greenville Man Arrested For Leflore County Crime Spree

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenville man is in jail in Leflore County today after being arrested by police in connection with a string of auto burglaries in Greenwood and Itta Bena. Leflore County Sheriff Ricky Banks says 21-year-old Isiah Derrell Hall broke into a dozen unlocked vehicles and stole personal belongings including seven or eight guns, money and a purse which he intended to sell. According to Banks, Leflore County deputies encountered a suspicious vehicle with Washington County tags in the Itta Bena area. When officers pulled up behind, Hall allegedly threw one of the guns out the window, parked the car and ran through a field near Mississippi Valley State University. Campus Police discovered Hall on the grounds the next morning and alerted the Sheriff. Deputies took Hall into custody around 10:00 AM Monday. The Sheriff reports that all items have been recovered except one gun. Hall had been free on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
