Greenwood Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — A man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in Greenwood in connection with a shooting last week. 28-year-old Zarphya Moody is accused by police of shooting a 44-year-old man during an argument over money at the intersection of Fulton and Gibbs Street around 10:30 PM Friday night. The victim, police say loaned Moody money, and when he tried to collect Moody pulled a gun. When the man tried to run Moody shot him in the back. The victim was treated and released from Greenwood-Leflore Hospital. Moody is currently being held at the Leflore County Jail with no bond because he was already out on a prior felony bond.
