Greenwood-Leflore Has a New Superintendent

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — The newly merged Greenwood-Leflore School District has its first superintendent. By a 3 to 1 vote Wednesday the school board hired Dr. Mary Brown, the current Greenwood School District’s director of curriculum and instruction. Board member Antwoine Williams was absent from the meeting, and board Vice President and Secretary Samantha Milton was opposed. Brown has worked in Greenwood and Leflore schools for sixteen years. She was fired in October of 2014 after accusing superintendent Montrell Greene of bullying and harassing her and other employees. Greene was later fired and she was reinstated. As superintendent Brown will draw an annual salary of $150,000.
