Greenwood Hospital Reverses Course and Fires Consultant

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — The newly constituted board at the financially struggling Greenwood Leflore Hospital voted for an about-face this week. On Tuesday board members voted to give 90-days notice to a Florida consulting firm that they will be terminating their contract. The company was hired just 9 months ago at a cost of $700,000 to help improve Greenwood Leflore Hospital’s image, work on employee morale and to improve the patient experience with the hospital. Hospital COO Leigh Ann Bradley argued in favor of continuing the contract in front of the board saying the hospital had seen its employee turnover rate drop from 23.5% down to near 20% for a potential savings of over $800,000. But one board member called the claims unconvincing, with another saying they needed to “drain the swamp”.
