Greenwood Homicide Ruled Self Defense

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — The 29-year-old Greenwood man identified as the shooter in the killing of 27-year-old Darris Ollie on Friday will not face charges. Police said in a statement that “all evidence points to justifiable homicide self-defense”. Ollie suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and tried to flee the scene by driving away. But he crashed and flipped his vehicle just a block away and died shortly later at Greenwood Leflore Hospital. The unidentified man, who was taken into custody for questioning has been released by Greenwood Police after consulting with the Leflore County District Attorney’s office. The shooting occurred early Friday evening after an altercation between the two men, who had a history, which included an appearance in court over a disagreement earlier in the week.
