Greenville Sergeant to plead guilty

Chicot Memorial

A former Greenville police officer is expected to plead guilty in a bribery case. Former Greenville sergeant Burney Alfred Peacock is due in an Aberdeen courtroom on January 29th, where he is expected to plead guilty to charges in a bribery case. He was accused of accepting more than 14-hundred dollars from the owner of Southern Whispers Nightclub in exchange for advance warning when liquor law agents were in town. Peacock, who was with the department for more than 20 years, retired last summer shortly after his arrest.
