Greenville re-opens Parks and Rec Director search

The City of Greenville has extended the deadline to apply for the top position in the Parks and Recreation Department. Officials said the previous search that had a deadline of October 15th did not turn up enough candidates, so they extended the deadline to November first. The search for a new director comes amid a time of trouble for the department. Yvette Yeager, who served in that position from 1997 to 2012, is facing embezzlement charges for the alleged theft of 85-thousand dollars from the department over a five year period. Her replacement, Oscar Smith Junior, served a short time on the job and then resigned, citing budget constraints he said made it too difficult to run programs properly.
