Greenville officials are estimating that the recent Mississippi River Marathon generated a half-million dollar economic impact

The boost came from 12-hundred runners and 37-hundred spectators who spent money in local hotels, restaurants and stores during February’s event. The marathon also raised about 60-thousand dollars for Teach for America.
