Greenville Murder Suspect Given $1,000,000 Bond

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The prime suspect in what police suspect may have been a mistaken identity killing had his first appearance in court on Monday. 25-year-old Nicholas Barnes was arraigned by Judge Micheal Prewitt and given a $1,000,000 bond. 22-year-old Mykell Blumenberg was shot multiple times while in his car at the old Lucky’s Quickstop in the 1800 block of East Alexander just after 9:00 PM. He was transported to Delta Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries. Police investigators believe the victim may not have been the intended target and that Barnes may have been looking for another man who resembles Blumenberg involved in an earlier altercation.
