Greenville Fire Chief Hanging Up Hat After 25 Years

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Today is the last day on the job for a 25-year veteran of the Greenville Fire Department. Fire Marshal Vernon Murphree graduated from the fire academy back in 1994, alongside current Greenville Chief Ruben Brown. He’s spent the last few decades not only fighting fires in Greenville but investigating the causes for the department. Chief Brown says with Murphree’s retirement, he is now the last active member of the class of ten who graduated together 25-years ago.
