Greenville Council Clears Way for Repair Of Reed Road

Chicot Memorial

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A recent $9M bond issuance by seems to have finally broken the impasse between the city and Washington County in funding repairs for East Reed Road. For the last several years numerous proposals and offers have been made by the city to help fund the project with no agreement ever being reached even as the road continued to deteriorate. With the Office of State Aid approving the County’s plans earlier this week, the city stepped up and said the will honor their last offer to contribute $300,000 to the project, which the county can now begin advertising for bids. Reed Road from Raceway Road to the Main Street Canal will receive a total base repair and have its surface resealed with blacktop at a total cost of $1.2M.
