Greenville City Council moves to ban wiretapping

The Greenville City Council has voted to amend the city’s employee handbook. Recordings of any conversation with any other employee without that individual’s consent will now be banned and subject to warnings, suspension or termination. Some members wondered whether the ban on recordings would hinder an employee who needs a way to prove that he or she is being harassed, but the board voted 4 to 2 to approve the ban, which was recommended by the joint Human Resources and Insurance committees.
