Greenville Binning Part Of Its Recycling Program

Chicot Memorial

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The City of Greenville is binning part of it’s recycling program. The city council has approved removing the four large containers scattered around town which are costing the city as much as $900 a month to empty. They’ll be moved into storage. Business in the city which share 68 smaller recycling bins mostly for cardboard recycling will continue to be able to do so. The city plans to lease them to Greenville Recycling, which will in turn sublease them to the businesses. The changes come after the city learned that state grant funds that paid the costs of the program have run out and the city would be on the hook for any future dumping fees.
