Grant Gives The Gift Of Neutering To 500 Dogs

COAHOMA COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — 500 Coahoma County dogs will be spayed or neutered this year thanks to a $38,000 grant from Petsmart to CARES, the non-profit organization that operates the Clarksdale Animal Shelter. Free spays and neuters will be provided to animals whose owners cannot otherwise afford the sterilizations. Since taking over the animal shelter in 2015, CARES has placed over 2000 animals in homes and moved into a new facility on Highway 49 south of Clarksdale.
