Governor Wants Training Against Workplace Shootings

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Governor Phil Bryant is ordering Mississippi state employees to learn how to prepare for and respond to a workplace shooting. Bryant signed an executive order Tuesday instructing 30,000-plus state employees to complete the 20-minute course by June 1st and says taking the course will help ensure that state employees remain safe. The online presentation was prepared by the State Personnel Board, which helps to recruit and regulate state employees with help from the state Office of Homeland Security, the Mississippi Gaming Commission and police agencies.
