Jackson, MS (Ben Caxton) — Earlier this week Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant used his powers to cut the state budget. At the same time he also made a pitch for a statewide Mississippi Lottery. Clay Chandler, a spokesperson for the governor said “Governor Bryant would be supportive of lottery legislation resurfacing before the end of the session, so lawmakers should continue the discussion about possibly generating additional revenue for the state.” A Mississippi Lottery could potentially generate tens of millions of dollars in new revenues for legislators to spend.
