Gasoline Prices Continue to Soar

Chicot Memorial

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The price of regular gasoline has gone up 9 cents a gallon over the past two weeks. The national average price is $2.83, 37 cents higher than it was a year ago and industry analyst Trilby Lundberg says the jump is being driven by rising crude oil costs. The most expensive gas in the contiguous 48 states is $3.68 in the San Francisco Bay area, and the lowest is $2.45 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Not far behind, Mississippi’s average price is $2.49 a gallon.
