THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The last week in March was a busy one across the Delta. Lightning destroyed a home in Renova, and the Greenville Fire Department rescued a pit bull from a fire damaged home in Greenville last weekend. On Monday, Delta Blues Legend and WNLA fixture O’Neal Dean died in Moorhead. Early Tuesday an 80-year-old Sunflower woman was murdered in her home. Wednesday night storms caused power outages and inmates to be moved from Leland to Greenville at the Leland PD headquarters was heavily damaged. An Indianola Choir brought home the Gold from Atlanta and earned an invitation to Carnegie Hall in New York to compete. Cleveland Police named Rory Micow `Officer of the Year`. Two separate head-on crashes near Yazoo City left a Vicksburg man dead. A Clarksdale woman was charged with smuggling. Arkansas Police chased a stolen car into Mississipi. And a man died after wandering into traffic in Cleveland and being hit by an 18-wheeler on Thursday. You heard about all of these stories and more first on Delta Radio.
