Future Mound Bayou Doctor Scores A 33 On ACT

Chicot Memorial

MOUND BAYOU, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mound Bayou is affectionately referred to as the “Jewel of the Delta.” Well within that jewel are precious gems and one of those gems happens to be Jalexis Evans. Jalexis is the daughter of LaToya Lee and has been an “A” student since she began her academic career at I.T. Montgomery Elementary School. Jalexis recently scored a 33 on the ACT and has already received numerous scholarships and college acceptances. The Mound Bayou star has served on the dance team, in the youth choir, and volunteered for the summer youth program at her church. She also helped initiate an organization with one her mentors, Mrs. LaKenya Evans, called Girl Talk and was a JFK cheerleader as well. Upon entering the 11th grade, Jalexis was accepted into the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, where she continued her education. Since attending MSMS, Jalexis has won poetry and writing contests, been inducted into the United States Congressional Records by Congressman Bennie Thompson, participated in many clubs and organizations and has kept her “A” average. Jalexis will be graduating from MSMS this 20th of May before heading on to college to further her education.
