Fugitive Manhunt Shifts From Oklahoma To New Mexico

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said in a Facebook post late last night that murder suspect, 28-year-old Alex Bridges Deaton, has been spotted near Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has abandoned the white GMC Acadia and has carjacked a couple. The couple was able to escape, but the male victim sustained a gunshot wound. Deaton escaped in their Honda passenger car. Earlier Tuesday the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Deaton was spotted at an Autozone store in Oklahoma City. There had also been reports of his cell phone pinging in the Tulsa area. Deaton is wanted for murder and aggravated assault charges that stem from the Rankin County, Mississippi death by strangulation of his girlfriend Heather Robinson, and the drive-by shooting of a jogger in Jackson. Deaton is also a person of interest in the shooting death of a 69-year-old woman in a Neshoba county church.
