Former Hospital Up For Sale In Vicksburg

Chicot Memorial

VICKSBURG, MS (Ben Caxton) — A vacant hospital in Vicksburg is up for sale. The former Parkview Hospital is on the market for $2.1 million. Originally built as Mercy Hospital in 1957 the seven-story building near downtown Vicksburg was renamed Parkview in the 1990s after being bought by a Tennessee company, then later sold to another company based in Texas. It’s been empty since 2002 when a new hospital opened. The listing broker says the structure could be used as a skilled nursing and assisted living facility or as some sort of medical college; if zoning officials agree, it could be converted to apartments.

  1. It is a shame this facility has been setting vacant for so long. There are so many things it could be used for. However, the cost of removing the asbestos and other repairs may be cost prohibitive in the sale of the property.
