Former Greyhound Station Closer to Getting Its Wings

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi Department of Archives and History has preliminarily approved plans to convert Clarksdale’s historic Greyhound bus depot to a Wingstop restaurant. Deputy State Historic Preservation officer Jim Woodrick says the changes will not harm the Mississippi Landmark, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. About $300,000 worth of renovations are needed, including sewer and electrical upgrades and a new HVAC system…but Boss Wings XXX LLC, headed by the mother and sister of Clarksdale native and rap star Rick Ross, hopes to employ 15 to 20 people at Clarksdale’s Wingstop when it opens early next year.
