Former D-R-M-C emergency room doctor seeks license reinstatement

An emergency room physician who formerly worked for the Delta Regional Medical Center is seeking reinstatement of his medical license. Dr. Robert Corkern had his license suspended by the state last year, after he pleaded guilty in a bribery case related to a different hospital. He was not accused of seeking bribes himself, but of allowing himself to be used by someone who was involved in unscrupulous business practices. To work again as a doctor, he needs reinstatement of his medical license and his status as a Medicaid and Medicare provider so potential employers can bill the federal government for those patients. The state medical licensure board is due to meet again March 20th.
