Flooding Rains Return to the Delta

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — After only a short respite heavy rains have returned to the Delta. Rainfall totals Wednesday passed the one-inch mark at Delta radio sensors in Itta Bena and Indianola with other areas receiving between one half and three-quarters of an inch. Forecasters say though that the area could be in line for as much as five inches of rain in spots through Friday morning as another storm system moves through. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for northeastern Louisiana into central Mississippi. On Tuesday, Governor Phil Bryant issued a State of Emergency proclamation for eight counties in south and central Mississippi due to damages caused by last weeks heavy rains.
