Flood Victim’s Name Released By Coroner

FLORENCE, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Rankin County Coroner has released the name of a woman found dead in floodwaters near Florence. 52-year-old Jacqueline Williams was found dead in her car according to a statement by Sheriff Bryan Baily. Williams had called 9-1-1 when she was caught in rising flood waters and was on the phone with emergency dispatchers when they lost contact with her. Police arrived on the scene within minutes but could not locate her car. Her vehicle had apparently been swept away by fast moving water on Briarhill Road, with her inside. She was found dead a short time later.
