HELENA-WEST HELENA, AR (Ben Caxton) — A Helena-West Helena police officer is off the job and charged with aggravated assault. Lieutenant Michael Thomas, a 15-year department veteran, is charged with aggravated assault after allegedly throwing flash bangs at two cadets during training at a gun range last month. Police say flash bangs were not part of the training curriculum.
