First Mississippi Casinos Now Offering Sports Betting

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — This week Mississippi became the third state to offer legalized sports betting following May’s Supreme Court ruling allowing states other than Nevada to offer sports wagers. Gold Strike Casino in Tunica and Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi started accepting Mississippi’s first legal sports wagers at noon on Wednesday. Stanley Morgan, who played for New England and Indianapolis in the NFL, will be part of the festivities at Gold Strike. Caesars Entertainment says its Mississippi properties, Horseshoe Tunica and Harrah’s Gulf Coast, will open opening their sports books in mid-August.
