First Football Game Tonight for North Side High Gators

BOLIVAR COUNTY, MS (Ben Caxton) — They may not have proper uniforms yet, but a new high school football team is taking the field for the first time tonight in the Delta. The North Side High “Gators” from Bolivar County will be taking on O’Bannon in Greenville. The new team represents the first concrete results of a Tuesday Supreme Court ruling that cleared the way for the North Bolivar Consolidated School District to close John F. Kennedy High School in Mound Bayou and send those students to Broad Street High. The new Northside High will play Broad Street’s schedule this year. Former Broad Street coach Tavares Johnson will be the head football coach and athletic director for the North Side High School Gators.
