First Death Attributed to Coronavirus in Bolivar County

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi has nearly 1000 positive coronavirus cases. The number jumped to 937 yesterday as 20 people have died from the Wuhan COVID-19 Coronavirus including 1 death each in Bolivar, Leflore, and Sunflower Counties. A high spike of cases around Meridian has led Governor Tate Reeves to issue a shelter-in-place order for Lauderdale County through April 14th. Arkansas has 523 confirmed cases of the virus with eight deaths. In Tennessee, there have been 13 deaths with 1834 confirmed COVID-19 cases. 405 of those are in Shelby County where three coronavirus deaths have been reported since Saturday. For most people coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms like fever and cough which clear up in two to three weeks but milder cases of pneumonia sometimes require hospitalization. The risk of death is greater for older adults and people with underlying health problems.
