First Confirmed Mississippi Case Of the Flu Detected

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Mississippi state department of health has reported its first laboratory-confirmed case of influenza this year. Flu season usually peaks from January through March, and flu shots are the best way to be protected from complications that could lead to hospitalization or death. 80,000 American adults and 183 children died from the flu last year, including 3 pediatric deaths in Mississippi.
