First attempted murder charges filed in Washington County

A new law in Mississippi allows for attempted murder charges to be filed in cases that previously would have qualified only as aggravated assault. Attempted murder charges are now allowed in cases that would have been considered murder if the victim had not survived the assault. The first individuals charged with attempted murder in Washington County are two young men who allegedly shot and beat two elderly brothers who own the Min Sang grocery store during an armed robbery turned violent on January 3rd, and the suspects who allegedly shot a security guard during a robbery of an Exxon station on Mississippi One on January 8th.
