Feds say no to Silver departure

The U.S. Department of Transportation has rejected Silver Airways plan to drop Greenville in 90 days. Just as the City Council was considering filing a formal complaint, federal transportation authorities have already denied Silver Airways’ 90-day notification to pull out of the Mid-Delta Regional Airport and end its Greenville-to-Atlanta flights. Silver announced on April 9th that it would drop Greenville as well as Hattiesburg, Meridian, Tupelo and Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The airline received a multi-million dollar subsidy to serve those cities and now has been told that it must continue, until a suitable replacement is found.
