Feds Give $33.2M to Two Cities for Highway Work

GULFPORT, MS (Ben Caxton) — Two Mississippi cities are receiving federal grants for road construction. Gulfport will receive nearly $20.5 million to add about 2 miles of road to connect Daniel Boulevard to existing commercial centers along Interstate 10, U.S. Highway 49 and Airport Road. Starkville will receive nearly $12.7 million to improve 1.4 miles of roadway along Mississippi Highway 182/MLK Drive near downtown. The money is from a highly competitive federal grant program to help economic development efforts.
