Feds Close Six Bridges In Bolivar County

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — The Federal Highway Department closed six bridges in Bolivar County last week. the closings came as part of more than 100 bridges that were closed statewide after inspections found them to be unsafe. Bolivar county engineer project manager Josh McPherson told the county board of supervisors this week that they have a plan of action for each of the closed structures. Supervisor James McBride said the only thing that bothers the board is not having enough money at the present time to maintain the roads and bridges, saying it’s a state funding issue that needs to be resolved in Jackson.
