FAA Awards $2.5m to Delta Airport Improvement Projects

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The Federal Aviation Administration is giving $2.4 million to airports in Mississippi for drainage work, fencing, tree removal, lighting and runway rehabilitation. Projects are planned for airports in Vicksburg, Yazoo County, Philadelphia, Wiggins, West Point, Okolona, Picayune County and Ripley, as well as the airport at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. In announcing the grants, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith called the airports important assets for the state’s rural communities.
