Endless "Cherry’s" The Pits For Jackson Radio Listeners

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Staff at the Clarion-Ledger have noticed a local radio mystery. Apparently, one local station, WYOY 101.7, has been playing one song and one song only. On repeat. For three straight weeks. If you were a fan of Neil Diamond’s 1966 hit “Cherry, Cherry” that alone would probably be enough to sour you on the tune. Ledger reporter Katie Eubanks writes that she called the station and spoke with the General Sales Manager, who apparently has plenty of time to answer phones since the station is playing the song without any commercial breaks. He told the paper there’s a reason, but he’s not revealing what it is. No word on whether the non-stop Neil Diamond fest was in fact ordered by Mama Carlson.
