Economic Alliance Scores $31K Grant For Student Testing

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Hundreds of local school kids will be able to get tested thanks to a grant from the Foundation for the Mid South announced Friday. The Washington County Economic Alliance says the grant, totaling $31,570.00 will allow up to 450 high school students in Washington County to take the ACT WorkKeys assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to help grow a local workforce for existing and future companies located in Washington County. The WCEA says that currently, there is no additional state funding available to test high school students, and without testing, Washington County cannot accurately assure existing and future businesses that the area has a sufficiently trained workforce to meet their needs.
