Drew County Deputy Killed In Police Chase

DREW COUNTY, AR (Ben Caxton) — A Thursday police chase in Drew County has led to the death of a Drew County deputy sheriff. 29-year-old Timothy Allen Braden of McGehee was killed when he lost control of his vehicle while pursuing 23-year-old Jerrod Vincent of Monticello. Both Braden and Vincent were traveling west on Barkada Road in Monticello shortly after 1:30 AM when the two drivers simultaneously lost control of their vehicles. The vehicles left the roadway striking a tree and a utility pole. Braden’s vehicle came to rest facing north and Vincent’s vehicle came to rest facing east. Braden and Vincent were both transported to a hospital where Braden died. Vincent was treated at the hospital and taken to the Ashley County jail. Vincent has been charged with first-degree felony-murder for causing the officer’s death by fleeing, possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony fleeing in connection with Braden’s death. His bond has been set at $200,000 and his plea and arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in Drew County Circuit Court.
