Domestic Violence Arrests Greet New Years In Drew County

DREW COUNTY, AR (Ben Caxton) — Two domestic violence cases kept 9-1-1 dispatchers in Drew County busy over the New Year’s Holiday. On New Years Day a Bradley County man was arrested for allegedly choking his girlfriend while she was driving a car. Drew County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Steve Acuapa, on charges of domestic battery, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. The incident, which resulted in three separate calls to 9-1-1, occurred on Longview Road. Mykayla Rawls was driving south when Acuapa allegedly grabbed her wrist and began choking her. She stopped the car and jumped out. After she exited the vehicle, Acuapa reportedly would not allow her back in the car, according to the Sheriff’s office. In another incident on New Year’s Eve, Bradley Hall is accused of beating his wife, Shelby, then intentionally crashing their vehicle, leaving the woman trapped inside. According to police deputies responded to a call reporting that a woman had accidentally cut her wrist. When deputies arrived at the woman’s home, an ambulance was on scene. Deputies then learned that Mrs. Hall reportedly had been in a vehicle accident on the West end of Sid Caperton Road. She told deputies that her husband beat her and kicked her in the head and face. She also told deputies that her husband intentionally wrecked a vehicle and left the scene with her trapped inside the vehicle. Someone subsequently stopped, helped her out of the wrecked vehicle and took her home. Bradley Hall was arrested at the residence facing a second-degree battery charge and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries along with traffic violations.
