Dogs and Cats Need to Be on the Lookout in Clarksdale

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — After several weeks without one, Clarksdale once again has a full-time dog catcher on duty. At Monday’s meeting city commissioners approved transferring Brandon Amerson from public works to animal control officer, effective immediately. He replaces Rob Harris who resigned earlier this year. The primary duty of the city’s animal control officer is to round up stray dogs, which are held at the CARES Animal Shelter. Stray animals are evaluated and if left unclaimed within 3 to 5 days are made available for adoption.
