Districts encouraged to join school funding lawsuit

Chicot Memorial

Advocates are encouraging more public school districts to sign on to a lawsuit against the state that claims that it has not funded public schools at the level that is required by the Mississippi Adequate Education Program. 14 districts, including Greenville, are suing for a total of 115 million dollars in additional funding. Greenville is the largest district in the suit so far, but other districts are being asked by advocates to sign on. They have until September 26th to do so.
