Delta State Wins Opener At High School Stadium

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Delta State University got off to a fast start with a win in a borrowed stadium Saturday. The Statesman defeated the Tarleton State University Texans 34-16 in front of a crowd of 5,155 at Cleveland Central High School’s Mickey Sellers Stadium. The game was moved from DSU’s home field as turf repairs underway there have yet to be completed. However, next week’s 2:00 PM game against Chowan University is expected to be played back at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.
