Delta State Sees an Increase in Burglaries

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Thefts and burglaries are on the rise at Delta State University in Cleveland. DSU Police Chief Jeff Johns is quoted by the Bolivar Commercial newspaper as saying that since the beginning of the year a car has been stolen, and several others broken into in the northwest corner of campus, generally west of the Bologna Performing Arts Center. Police recovered the car and three people were arrested. But Johns noted that all of the vehicles targeted had been left unlocked. DSU police have increased patrols in the area and have received new security cameras that they will be installing capable of sending live video streams back to campus police they hope will deter future crime.
